WOODLAWN COMEDY

Woodlawn Comedy is a premier full-service production and events company providing top-tier live comedy and entertainment performances at the historic Woodlawn Theatre. The venue is strategically located in the Art Deco district within 10 minutes of downtown San Antonio. Designed by renowned architect John Eberson in 1945 and is now a flagship for Comedy shows in San Antonio, with a seating capacity of 985 (floor and balcony seating). The Woodlawn Theatre boasts a vast performance stage, 2 dressing/green rooms to accommodate more than 6 performers, and advanced lighting, audio, and visual production technology.

RENOVATIONS

Renovations began in the summer of 2024, involving the demolition and removal of elements added by past tenants over the last 80 years. Restoring the building to its former glory is a priority for Woodlawn Comedy, as it is a historical landmark deserving of this effort. This undertaking will be labor-intensive and will continue annually. Upgrades include new seating on both the floor and balcony, accommodating a total capacity of 985 seats. Additional features will include a Speakeasy & Lounge Bar on the second floor, a full bar in the main lobby, improvements to the stage and frame, an enhanced LED screen backdrop, and the installation of state-of-the-art lighting, laser lighting, audio, and visual technology.
